Description:

World Thalassemia Day is observed every year on May 8 to spread awareness about thalassemia, support affected families, and encourage prevention through timely medical awareness and testing.

On the occasion of World Thalassemia Day, St. John’s High School organized an awareness session for the students of Class 7 to promote sensitivity and social responsibility among young learners. Representatives from Rotary Blood Bank, Sector 37, Chandigarh visited the school and shared valuable information about blood collection and blood donation.

The resource persons explained how donated blood helps save lives and encouraged students to motivate their parents and family members to participate in blood donation camps. The session also focused on thalassemia, a serious genetic blood disorder affecting many children. Students were made aware of its causes, symptoms, and preventive measures.

The informative session helped students understand the values of compassion, care, and community service towards society.
