Description: DATE: 13th December 2024 to 19th December 2024 EVENT: NSS Camp THEME/ TOPIC: Yeh Diwali My Bharat Wali CLASS & SECTIONS: 12-A, 12-B, 12-C LEARNING OUTCOMES: Students were able to learn: In the words of Muhammad Ali, “Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on Earth” BRIEF DESCRIPTION: During these seven days, the NSS volunteer team of St. John’s High School, embarked on an impactful and transformative journey, immersing themselves in the heart of the community and working diligently to address a range of challenges faced by its members. The camp commenced with an informative session by Ms. Neha from the MOHAN Foundation, who sensitized the students about the importance and benefits of organ donation. As young adults, they were made aware of how organ donation can save lives and were encouraged to pledge their organs once they turn 18. Following a brief break and a hearty lunch, the volunteers channeled their creativity into poster-making activities, emphasizing the significance of saving the girl child and promoting organ donation. The volunteers visited Nada Sahib Gurudwara and the Sai Baba Temple where they contributed by peeling and cutting vegetables, preparing rotis, washing utensils, and serving food. The next day, volunteers were taken to Shastri Nagar, the adopted village of St. John’s, where they spearheaded a cleanliness campaign. During this initiative, they raised awareness about hygiene and distributed soaps and sanitary pads to promote a healthier and cleaner lifestyle. They also organized “Chai ka Langar” in the village which was a relief for the villagers in the cold weather of December. They conducted a survey with families in the village to gather pertinent details about their concerns. Over the course of this camp, they did not only acquire invaluable life lessons but also had the opportunity to serve the community in meaningful ways. The collective efforts during these seven days have contributed, in a significant way, to making society a better place. FACILITATED BY: Ms. Shruti Garg
