Description: DATE: 8th August 2024 EVENT: Inter Class Competition Second Quarter THEME/TOPIC: Veer Gatha CLASS & SECTION: Prep, KG to 5 LEARNING OUTCOMES: • Enhanced Historical Awareness and Patriotism: The competitions provided students with a deeper understanding of India’s freedom struggle and the contributions of our freedom fighters. • Creativity and Critical Thinking Development: The various activities encouraged students to think creatively and use their imagination. BRIEF DESCRIPTION: On the 8th of August 2024, St. John’s School organized a series of Interclass Competitions with the theme “Veer Gatha,” celebrating the bravery and sacrifice of the heroes who played a pivotal role in India’s freedom struggle. The event was designed to instill a sense of patriotism in students while providing them with a platform to showcase their creative talents. Class Prep and KG: Craft Creators - Paper Tearing and Pasting Competition The youngest participants, from KG and Prep, engaged in a delightful paper tearing and pasting competition. The children were tasked with decorating the national flag, a simple yet meaningful activity that allowed them to express their artistic side. Class 1: Threads of Love - Rakhi Making Competition The students of Class 1 participated in a colorful Rakhi-making competition titled “Threads of Love.” The young learners skillfully crafted beautiful Rakhis, symbolizing the bond of love and protection between siblings. The activity was filled with fun and creativity as the students used vibrant threads, beads, and other decorative materials to create their unique designs. Class 2: Heroes from History - Fancy Dress Competition Class 2 students took part in a fancy dress competition titled “Heroes from History,” where they dressed up as prominent freedom fighters and national leaders from India’s independence movement. The young participants brought historical figures like Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh and Subhash Chandra Bose to life by donning costumes and delivering famous lines associated with these heroes. The competition was not only entertaining but also educational, as it gave the students an opportunity to learn about the significant contributions of these leaders to India’s freedom struggle. Class 3: Leaves of Inspiration - Quote Writing Competition Class 3 students took part in a unique competition called “Leaves of Inspiration,” where they wrote quotes or messages inspired by freedom fighters or national leaders on leaves. This creative activity encouraged the students to reflect on the values and wisdom of India’s heroes, resulting in a collection of thought-provoking and inspiring messages. Class 4: Our Unsung Heroes - Poster Making Competition The students of Class 4 were involved in an activity titled “Our Unsung Heroes,” where they made posters highlighting lesser-known figures from India’s freedom struggle. The students researched and artistically represented these unsung heroes, bringing their stories to life and ensuring that their contributions were recognized and celebrated. Class 5: Trash to Treasure - Recycling Activity Class 5 students participated in the “Trash to Treasure” activity, where they were tasked with transforming everyday materials into items that celebrate the spirit and culture of India. The students showcased their ingenuity by creating various treasures from discarded materials, demonstrating the importance of sustainability while honoring Indian heritage. The interclass competitions with active participation from all classes, provided the students with a platform to explore their creativity, express their patriotism, and learn about the rich history of India’s freedom struggle. The “Veer Gatha” theme was well-received, and the students left with a deeper understanding and appreciation of the sacrifices made by the country’s national heroes.
